Story Sequencing Oral and Written First, Next, Then, Last

Description

1st and 2nd graders focus on basic story structure, sequencing, retelling, oral storytelling, and written storytelling. Scaffolded support with an I do, we do, you do approach to teaching story writing is encouraged.

First is teacher modeling of oral storytelling with sequencing story cards. Next is partner practice of oral storytelling with question prompting for more detail. Then teacher modeling of story writing using oral storytelling. Finally, students write their stories independently.
