Planning for All Things Fall: Part 1 – September

Trying to balance the content you have to teach, the things you want to teach, and also sprinkle in some fun? Sounds exhausting. We want to give you ideas for activities that are fun, fresh, and all things fall! I’m a sucker for themes and have just the right ideas for you to keep your classroom from “fall”ing apart this year. Welcome to Part 1 of our 3 part series for Fall.
SeptemBER:
Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been back for almost a month, September has SO MUCH potential for fun! Required curriculum comes first, of course, but then I like to have some fun with the freedoms that I am allowed in my district. You might have more or less, and that’s ok! Use whatever makes your teaching life easier 🙂
Let’s think about the beginning of your day. Do you start with morning work? There were some years I used morning work and some that I didn’t. It all depended on the temperment of my class! But once the year starts, I’m a big fan of routine, and I know that my students thrive on routines as well.

Monday: Math Monday (graphing)
Tuesday: Trace It Tuesday (symmetry)
Wednesday: Write About It Wednesday (directed draw)
Thursday: Think Hard Thursday (color the code)
Friday: Fun Friday (solve by code spelling)

Fall Fun Rotations:
Whether you are enjoying some classroom fun with your teammates or solo in your own classroom, here are some fun fall activity ideas that your students will LOVE.

What Are Rotations?
Each teacher plans one fall classroom party activity that will last about the same amount of time. We usually planned for 30-40 minutes for each activity.
Yes, each teacher has just one activity to plan! Get the plan ready, the materials ready, and welcome the classes!
Then a schedule needs to be made. Sticking to the schedule is important, otherwise you will have a class of squirrely students waiting in the hall for you to open your door.
