This Planets and Solar System Activities Packet is one of our FAVORITE science units ever!
Our students just eat it up. No wonder it is one of our best-sellers! And over the years, we have added the best solar system activities to use with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders!
This science packet has it all, check it out below:
Planets and Solar System Posters
I start by reading out loud as many books about planets and our solar system as I can. I show Brain Pop Jr. videos and I share visuals like the posters below and keep them posted in the classroom for reference throughout the science unit.
Solar System Books
Once students make their Solar System Activities FLIP Book, they can sit with a partner and read it several times. Then they can take it home and read it to their parents. So many opportunities for reading comprehension and fluency practice!
My first graders also get this solar system activities book to read, color, and fill out as we go through and learn about the planets in our solar system together.
Then my students use the information in their Solar System Activities Book as well as the reference posters (in #1) to create their very own report! An easy-to-use report planner and writing pages are included in this Planet and Solar Systems Activities Packet to help create reports with loads of information on our solar system.
See what teachers like you are saying about these solar system activities:
This resource looks wonderful inside of my students’ interactive notebook! They are proud of their flip book especially when they are teaching each other!— Shymone M.

I liked the read and think pages on each planet. I used this resource as a supplement to boost up my solar system unit this past year and they loved it. I also loved the word search, my students could spend hours on those if I let them.— Ryann B.

Review Vocabulary Words
We just added this fun solar system worksheet to review the many science vocabulary words taught throughout the unit!
Post these new science vocabulary words on your word wall, or give each student their very own word wall to reference throughout the solar system activities unit.
Activities and Games
Lastly, we use these fun solar system activities flashcards to review vocabulary terms taught in the science unit.
This science packet is full of engaging solar activities and our students love it!
